The PICO collaboration is currently in the final stages of installing the PICO-500 dark matter search detector in the SNOLAB underground astroparticle physics facility. The PICO detector uses a modernized bubble chamber technology with acoustic and optical readout to search for evidence of WIMP interactions on the target nuclei. The PICO technology, status, challenges, and future prospects will be described.
