With particle-acceleration technologies arguably reaching a diminishing-returns limit in their (present) ability to probe new physics, a push towards the opposite side of the energy spectrum may offer a timely distraction. I will describe a few recent efforts in our lab aiming to exploit technologies sensitive to sub-keV signals, applied to a number of fronts: dark matter, neutrino physics, and exotic decays. Promise and perils will both be given fair treatment.
